The Forest of Tir'Ehtele

To the North of Atalan, a vast forest grows at the foothills of the Mountains. It spreads from the coast to the swamps of Omgi Ztehh, being the birthplace of many creeks and the path of many rivers coming from the icy roof of the peaks. This is the ancient forest of Tir’Ehtele, which guards many secrets and legends, both dangerous and wondrous.

Near the coast, directly to the North of Atalan, the forest seems quiet. A persistent mist covers the space between the silent trees, and a strange sense of ancient time lingers on the stillness of the leaves. The moisture coming from the sea feeds the mist daily and the condensation of the water against the trees make a smooth layer of sweat appear. That effect, made the coastal part of Tir’Ehtele receive the name of Sorrow Woods, given the apparent tears rolling down the logs and leaves, together with the ignorance of the few people that ever ventured there, unaware of the larger size of the forest.

For many decades, across the vastness of the woodlands, rumors of undead sightings were more than just a tale. Coming from the East, they once spread throughout Tir’Ehtele, and no unguarded place could be called safe. Even in the Sorrow Woods, where wild animals are a common presence, the risk of undead encounter was fairly high. Now however, the Restless have been driven from the woods by divine intervention, and are seen no longer. In their place, many more wild and exotic animals have made their presence known as they reclaim the woods.

To the East, through the forest, the sounds of the waterfall break the quietude. Skittish animals seldom make an appearance to drink from the waters of the Blurred Mirror Lake, which births the rapids of the Invarin River, the Cold River. Crossing the stream, the Bridge of Anon'mar is the first path to the center of Tir'Ehtele, and the Kingdom of the Elves, Maer'Havel.

The second path lies even farther east, across the Glin'Alu River, the Bridge of Tella'men was the battleground for a war lasting over a century. Target of constant attacks from undead, Tella’men was the last defense of the Elves, guarded by the Vakh'na with zeal. The forest here is no longer the same as it once was. Though the trees seem intact, a sense of decay yet lingers the air, though such seems to be fading over time as life reclaims the land. The tainted forest continues farther East, to the ruins of Maer'Vanim. From this once beautiful city, all that remains now are the ruined walls, and though the Syl'vae often seek to reclaim it, it seems that there are surprises below the surface yet.
