The Arcane Collective

With the fall of High Reaches and THIMBLE, the great centers of learning, study, and advancement were lost. They took with them much of the world's accumulated knowledge of the Arcane, and leaving individual scholars to grasp at the remaining straws and hold them tight against the encroaching darkness of ignorance. Unfortunately, no new centers of learning have sprung up on Eramere, and for the last 400 years the Arcane Arts have once more devolved into master-apprentice relationships, with only a few being taught the secrets of the arcane arts.

However, despite the distances that separate the villages, towns, and cities, many of these disparate arcanists have fought to keep in touch with each other, pooling what knowledge they can between them, to try and recoup that which has been lost.

In more recent years formal gatherings have been proposed: a sort of arcane festival, to which arcanists can gather themselves and exchange knowledge in person, before going their separate ways.

Despite this seemingly hodgepodge arrangement of letters and sporadic meetings, an astounding amount of arcane knowledge appears to have been preserved. Of special note is an arcanist who goes by the pen name of Memory, who seems to have access to a large store of arcane information. Given how long 'Memory' has been active in the community, it's assumed that the name is passed from master to apprentice. No one to date has met Memory in person.
