Imil'vae

Description

When the Syl'vae abandoned Maer'Havel 500 years ago, most Syl'vae disappeared from outside the woods. Some Syl'vae stayed with the Orcs in Val'Mahkor, or traveled from place to place. Still others settled within human or mixed towns across the continent. Very rarely, a union between one of the younger Syl'vae and a human began to be known. The older Syl'vae, and those not from the more human towns, still do not know what to make of this, and look down on both the parent and the child as inconceivable. They have called such children, and at times even the Syl'vaen parent, 'Imil'vae'. This appears to roughly translate to 'those people with a weaker bond'. It is true that some of the Imil'vae, like the Syl'vae who live away from all other Syl'vae for a length of time, demonstrate a weakened elven bond. Other half-Syl'vae who grow up amongst Syl'vae, or even with other Imil'vae siblings, often demonstrate just as strong of a bond as pure Syl'vae. Some even go through Vinde'Ithlen. Nevertheless, the term has stuck.

The Imil'vae are otherwise accepted within the various towns just as well as any other resident, by all of the non-Syl'vae. If they were to travel to the Oasis, Val'Mahkor, or Skolden'fel, they would yet be seen as a novelty. Imil'vae are still extremely rare, and appear to reach adulthood around the age of 80. The few that have been seen are less elusive and haunting than their Syl'vaen parents, but are still taller, more wiry, and more graceful than their human parents. They typically have pointed ears and piercing eyes, that can come in human colours as well as Syl'vaen. Thus far it appears that they generally have the Syl'vaen fondness for uncooked foods, and baked pastries.
