Torverra Plains

To the East, the Torverra Plains sit quietly like a stage. Just outside Atalan, the prairie is like a vast crossroad, between the Acentian Hills, the Witch Wood, Tir'Ehtele and the Karrgath Hills. Despite this fact, the tall grass usually grows untouched. The plain has a fertile feeling about it, but no animals can be seen anywhere, and if not for the constant and shifting wind moving the grass, Torverra would look almost like a painting.

But this place, apparently peaceful, hides a very strange and tragic event. Only a couple of years after the first settlers arrived by sea, those of more of a pioneer nature began to look for fertile lands to establish the first farms. Not long after, they decided to begin working the earth of these plains. Quickly, their plans were set in motion, and after a few weeks, the foundations of several farms were ready; barns, mills, houses and stables built by the hard working Halmorians.

Rumors tell of a natural disaster, while others blame supernatural powers and some even accuse the Karr that live up in the hills nearby. What is actually known is that overnight, the entire settlement disappeared. Aside from the buildings, no animals or bodies were left behind. It was almost as if they were never there.

After this tragedy, even the brave refused to establish any sort of settlement outside the protection of the walls of Atalan for many years, and some families still mourn the unexplained loss of their relatives. To this day, a few objects can still be found scattered throughout Torverra, now concealed by the overgrown grass. Like silent witnesses, these few personal belongings and clothes are the only proof that those events took place.

A few years before its destruction,, activity resumed in the settlement, and an inn began to draw customers from all over Eramere. The settlement was also the location of a significant battle in the war against the Black Horde in 983 IY. Now however, it is in ruins once again, claimed by the drakes that make the area their home.
