The Mystwood

The Mystwood is a forest located North of the Sandspires and South of the Karrgath Hills. With the icy Snowmyst Lake to the East of the Mystwood, it can be assumed that it's name is derived from it's neighbour, however there may be more to it than just location.

The umbrella of trees in the Mystwood tends to capture and hold heat within the forest. When an icey breeze blows west off of Snowmyst lake it will often cause a mist-like fog within the forest. This eerie phenomenon makes many mornings in the Mystwood forest quite unsettling, and combined with the blackness of night, it can make the Mystwood impossible to travel when the sun is down.

Massive spruce and redwood trees loom at heights of up to three hundred feet in the Mystwood, but the majority of the trees are more stout breeds of sequoia and cypress. These shorter trees cluster together beneath the taller trees forming a low ceiling within the woods. The occasional break of a tall tree can send a beam of light into the forest when the sun in high in the sky. Travelers often refer to these beams as a 'Mystwood Lighthouse', as it can often help them find their way on the foggier days.

The Mystwood is inhabited by typical wildlife such as deer, rabbits, foxes, birds of many types and even some rare breeds of arachnids. Small humanoids and drakes have also been spotted of late. Due to it's unusual, overly moist climate, fungus and flora are readily available to sustain the forests inhabitants.
