Summoned Divine Spirits
From Myths of Atalan Wiki
Divine casters can often call upon divine beings from the Realms of the Overseers, to aid them in their many tasks. Below is a list of many of those known to have aided clerics, shamans and druids in the past.
Contents
Firefly
Announcing itself with a tiny pop these floating balls of warm energy have been named for the summer insect that they resemble. Typically arriving as miraculous answer to a prayer of an Overseer's faithful, these obedient servants of the Overseers do their best to aid those that called them. Though not the strongest they are quite useful in illuminating areas that are dark and acting as scouts.
Cloudwalker
Starting as a miniature vortex the Cloudwalker coalesces into a ball of turbulent air that hovers a few feet above the ground. A formless ball of wind, this air spirit is only capable of doing extremely simple tasks using what amounts to its body in a bludgeoning manner.
Undine
Appearing through a combination of condensation of water vapor and groundwater gushing up from the ground the Undine often serving petitioners of the Overseers to the best of its abilities. Resembling a rough outline of a person the small water spirit uses its arm like appendages as crude clubs. Typically these water spirits are used to combat flames of various sorts among other tasks.
Earthen Bastion
Surging up from the ground, the Earthen Bastion molds into a rock-like person that is surrounded by an aura of calming light. This simple spirit of earth is capable of doing a multitude of simple tasks. Often Earthen Bastions are used to clear debris or carry heavier objects for those able to call forth servants of the Overseers.
Storm Vanguard
Appearing amid a rumble of thunder the Storm Vanguard is a humanoid looking creature that embodies a walking storm cloud. Sent forth from the realm of the Overseers to aid their faithful in tasks of varying degree, often the Vanguards are used in a combat support role, crackling with energy as it attacks with its arms.
Guardian Flare
Starting as a small pinprick of light, the flare's light grows immensely, into a ball of bright shimmering light that hovers a few feet above the ground. A formless ball of light and warmth, this fire spirit is only capable of doing simple tasks, and care must be taken to ensure that nothing nearby catches flame.
Gnarled One
Starting in a similar fashion as the Earthen Bastion, the rock-like body is supplemented by an exoskeleton of roots covered by moss like bark. The large earth spirit has a fully formed body and is capable of performing a variety of tasks with their fully formed arms and hands. Their disproportional trunk sized arms also make exceedingly effective weapons. As a more powerful spirit, the Gnarled One is also capable of using blessings from the Overseers against any enemy that stands in its way.
Waterweaver
Snapping together rather than coalescing, the Waterweaver rapidly forms a spider-like main body before legs of harden water and ice shoot out to stabilize its form. This large water spirit is capable of extremely rapid movements and is surrounded by an aura of chilling that allows the water forming the spirit to freeze and unfreeze as is necessary. Though made of water and ice, the spirit is incredibly strong and is only granted to the most devout of an Overseers' faithful.
Primal
Called forth from the ether of the Overseers' realm, the Primal is a swirling formless mass of elemental energy answering only the most powerful of Overseer faithful or acting in direct intervention for the Overseers. Difficult to describe as the elemental spirit adopts no specific form it is never-the-less easy to identify by the crackling sound of the energies waiting to be released.
Spirit of Nature
Often scholars speak of nature having a living soul and while many will not dispute claims made either way those faithful of the Overseers that worship through more natural settings and means have seen proof first hand. Called forth typically in times of distress the spirit appears as an innocent looking young buck of the most deep green. Though slight in stature and projecting a calming innocence these spirits are not to be trifled with as they can dish out both blessings of the Overseers and unleash the fury of nature in every blow.
Force of Nature
Where the Spirit of Nature can beguile some into a false sense of security the Force of Nature spirit leaves no doubt in the mind of the beholder that nature's fury has been unleashed. A towering hulk of brambles, roots, trunks, and stray boulders. Each step of the hulking behemoth is accompanied by a thunderous crash and a minor quake of the ground. Reducing anything in their path to rubble in moments the Force of Nature spirit is terrible to stand before.
