Kenneth is the son of Melvin and Sera Tanner and was born on the island of Torica after the occupation by the Blackspear. The son of a simple tanner, Kenneth did not have many prospects as he grew and everyone within the community assumed that as the oldest Tanner he would naturally take over his family business. All was going according to plan until the next of the undead attack upon the settlement. During the attack, Kenneth ran to his parents home, only to find it overrun and his parents trapped. Kenneth screamed for help, but there were no help to be had as everyone was busy fending for themselves as they tried to drive back the hordes that were erupting from the sands. Seeing his calls for aid go unheeded, he turned to the Overseers and begged for someone to help him defend his family. Kenneth felt a surge of energy enter his body and felt a clarity settle over him as he knew that his prayers had been answered. He stepped into his families business and picked up an iron rod as he went. Through the grace of Leeya Kenneth fought through the undead and smote the enemies before they could harm his family.

Understanding the gift that had been given to him, Kenneth informed his parents that he had been chosen by Leeya to be one of her Knights, and would not be able to take up the mantle of the next Tanner. The iron rod that he had saved his family with he later had melted down and incorporated into a longsword that he uses to this day. Kenneth was once a boyish and carefree man. After the events of the undead attack he became a serious and withdrawn man, extremely faithful to Leeya. Kenneth can often be found at prayer when he is not practicing his sword work or out on patrol.
