As the divine storm ceased and the influence of the Overseers slowly seeped back into the world it was widely accepted that the world had undergone a massive change, however, the extent of that change was still quite vague and unknown. Many of the old followers of the Eight found themselves confronting changes in the deities of old as the feel of their worship took on new or enhanced focus. Luscientians were encouraged toward the more warlike aspects of their patron in Scorsheth or their more artistic side, while Leeya shone brighter than ever before, almost demanding that Justice be a focus of her worshipers. The balance that had long permeated the Eight seemed to have been lost. The Overseers seemed to have agendas now instead of merely their followers' choices.
Yet within this upheaval something emerged - a Being came to be called Medius and was the last of the new Overseers to emerge. Genderless and without much of a shape, Medius remains above much of the recent agendas of the Overseers. A being of Balance in all things, Medius does not seem to actively seek followers, but rather Medius waits for those agents that wish to be tools of balance to seek out its path. Many wish balance for their own reasons, but Medius does not refuse any that seek the path, as balance requires all sides to be equal.
All are welcome to follow the path of Balance, however, many find it hard to follow a path that has no map, signs or guide. Followers of Medius come from all walks of life and many of them violently hate each other. Hierarchy among this Overseer's followers flows fluidly, emerging and dissolving as needed, ever changing but controlled. Medius and Its followers teach that Balance is what ultimately holds the world together, but leaves each individual to interpret what this means, both for themselves and everyone. As might be expected of such a widely diverse group, internal disagreements are common, but never violent. Peaceful debate is an art encouraged among nearly all followers of Medius, and many different schools of thought exist. For example, some followers of Medius refer to the deity as "It" due to It's sexlessness. Others argue that is inherently reductive and disrespectful to refer to the Overseer with the same word reserved for objects, and use He or She instead. But perhaps the most heated and important schism among Medius' followers is over the amount of involvement needed to come to and maintain the Balance. Some argue that a hands-off approach is best, to emulate the silence of their deity. Others argue that mortals must be the active hand of Medius, as It seems not to act on It's own. They believe the Balance is not self-enforcing, but must be maintained through action. These are but a few of the common philosophic disagreements found among followers of Medius. There is very little that all followers of Medius agree on, but in these many philosophies is a sort of Balance in itself. The clergy of Medius embrace these philosophical differences. Many believe that in diversity of ideas, there is a sort of Balance to be had. Many of these followers are druids, who worship Medius as the Balance of Nature and the One who incorporates all aspects of nature and their interaction with each other. These druids revere all aspects of nature as equally important, both to themselves and others. It is not uncommon for followers of Medius to pray to all the other Overseers, allowing Them each Their place in the Balance, but this worship is tempered with a greater devotion to the Unknowable Balance.
Medius is never depicted as having a physical form, and is usually depicted as an abstraction or not at all. It is said on the extremely rare occasions It appears to mortals It does so as a disembodied voice, containing tones simultaneously masculine and feminine and neither. Having no physical form (or none which is known), Its followers often seek to emulate this by eschewing weapons in favor of their bare hands.
The holy symbols of Medius are discs fashioned of any material but completely unadorned. For this reason, symbols are never turned into necklaces, as is usually customary. The symbol of a particularly devout follower of Medius sometimes becomes transparent by the work of the divine, and the touch of anyone else passes through it.
The Balanced View is commonly worshiped by seekers of balance, druids, philosophers, theologists and monks.
