Margrave Geoffrey Van Martellus XXIII

As per the traditions of a Knightly House, Geoffrey was born a Squire. He achieved his knighthood at the earliest possible age of 16, having trained for it his entire life.

When the family was called on to abide their oath to the House of Palustris, and follow his father, Lord Geoffrey van Martellus XXII, obeyed without a thought. Even though he was a dutiful son, Geoffrey had reservations about the move to Atalan, as he had many connections to the family's ancestral castle and lands... However, after he had time to fully consider the implications for the potential it gives his House, he grew to support the move.

His early time in Atalan was somewhat uneventful. He slowly gained more and more responsibilities within his House as his father grew in age. The decisive point was, of course, the Long Night. Geoffrey demonstrated much chivalry that night be taking in and protecting as many citizens of Atalan as he could, baring none to his family's fortress-like Estate. After the dust was settled, in recognition of his bravery, his father abdicated his position as Head of the House, a very rare decision for a living noble.

Since then, Geoffrey has proved most able to fulfill his duties. With his father and son at his side, he hopes to advance the House of Martellus to the position of major nobility, a long goal of their family... and to do that without breaking the letter, if not the spirit, of his oaths.

Geoffrey, after many tiring events, decided to finally abandon the von Atalans for his son to take his place leading house van Martellus. He remains in Eramere.
