Name: Galen Gray
Titles: Obsidian Academy Primus, Curate of Ephaesus' Sect in the House of Concordant Cycles

Appearance: This aged Halmorian's demeanor was sophisticated and calculating. He had a smooth, grandfatherly smile that put others at ease. Galen wore expensive, ornate robes that were typically made from fine silk. He stood at an average Halmorian height, though he had an impressive, wide shoulder line.

Bio: Galen was a proud Halmorian citizen, raised in the capital, known for his brilliance and a sharp wit that others tend to quote. He was peddled to performance halls by his father as a child prodigy, a six year old master of both piano and violin. Though that was an exaggeration, the local Theatre offered to tutor him without cost, much to the joy of the Gray junior and his elder. Galen, who would become inventor of the pipe organ, proved to be profound and sincere in his praise to Ephaesus. He eagerly joined Atalan's first settlers as a freshly anointed Predicant.

That choice led him to become the first true Scholar of the Obelisk and one of the Empire's most important individuals. He was the first to study the runes, he was the translator who named Atalan, and he was the city's first Hierophant. As his fledgling Obsidian Academy grew and consumed more of this time, he stepped down from the House's highest station. There is no question that he has great dedication to his Sect, which he still leads. His mastery of the Arcane is undisputed; Galen knows more about the mysteries than any other living person.

House and Academy outsiders rarely saw the Primus except during his public performances, when he played impossibly intricate melodies on the pipe organ with magically hasted hands. What little free time he had from his duties and studies is generally spent with the Academy's young wards, who tended to refer to him as Grandpa Gray. He was fiercely protective of them as if they were his own children. Someone who antagonized these wards could expect a visit from Galen himself, who may have been inclined to be as casual with the laws of Atalan as he was with the laws of physics.

Galen Gray vanished a few months before the fall of Obelisk, to some it is believed into the Obelisk itself.
