Background: Carrick's family has lived in and around Bad Water for longer than any record they can find indicates. They own a significant parcel of farmland just south of the town's walls, and have operated it for generations. Carrick was elected mayor three years ago and has served with distinction. Although, he has drummed up some controversy with his attempts to reopen a mine below the town.
