The Island of Samaras

Samaras is one of the several islands that make up the archipelago that contains TEST and Santina Bay among many others. The island had been one of the finalists for the eventual settlement of Torica, however, it was found that the soil was too acidic and unable to support any sort of sustainable food production. Samaras sits between Santina Bay and TEST. The island appears to have once been volcanic in nature like TEST is currently, however, there is no evidence for any recent eruptions. The island itself is quite barren, mostly supporting large coniferous forests.

Unlike its neighbors, Samaras has an arid climate rather than a tropical one. The acidity of the soil and the aridity of the climate has made most plant life unwelcome on the island. Largely ignored after the initial survey by the High Reaches for a potential human settlement, the island of Samaras became the landing site for the Halmorian Invasion fleet after their failed attempts to land upon Santina Bay. The island now serves as the home for New Halmor, the Halmorian colony on the continent of Eramere.
