The Haagor Edda: An Oral Tradition

In the time before runes recorded it's passing, the Valkshir roamed the great plains and were called the Calda. The plains were rich, and the hunt was easy, and our brothers and sisters lead soft lives. Then came Faergol the Trickster, and his promises of glory and strength. He did bid our people to war against others, and against ourselves, and many of our kin fell to their own blades.

Many of the Calda heeded The Trickster's words, but the great warrior Pertock, he saw through the lies and deceit. Pertock and his Calda tribesman tried to warn and reason with their brothers, but they were lost to all but The Trickster's promises and claims. On that day Pertock took his Calda tribesman, and drove north to the frozen lands, and there we became strong and worthy of the name of Valkshir.

The great frozen lands of Valka held worse dangers in the ancient days then they do now. Great wolves with red eyes roamed the snows, and their masters were the gigantic Krondor. The Krondor, both mighty and massive ruled over the lands of Valka and all those within. While the ancients kept strong and defiant the Krondor enslaved them and kept them separate. Through separation the ancients were weakened, and the Krondor encouraged strife and anger amongst the tribes. The Krondor ruled for a hundred generations, until the first Haegrim arose, and smote them.

Haagor the Mighty, first Haegrim of the Valkshir rose up and did battle with the Krondor, and united our people once more. Together once more and led by Haagor, the Valkshir marched upon the Krondor and we smote them upon the icy lands. The ancestors chased the Krondor to all the edges of Valka until not one still drew the cold air into their mighty lungs. Haagor kept the tribes strong, but the strife sewn by the Krondor ran deep, and when he died the tribes split once more.
