Balnif
From Myths of Atalan Wiki
Name: Balnif
Gender: Male
Age: 67
Location: Frothing Otter (Exterior)
Titles: 'Balnif', 'the drunk'
Race: Halmorian
Description: Balnif is an older man with a leathery skin that sags from his face like the wax of a melted candle drooping down his unshaven face. Balniff's hair, which was once a midnight black colour, is now mostly grey with just a peppering of it's original colour, and his bushy untrimmed eyebrows shadow beady slits for eyes that are reddened from too much drink. Balnif's clothes are that of a beggar, often torn, muddied and disheveled, and the stench of rum, manure and body odor hangs about him like a thick cloak.
Bio: After a dispute at the Academy where Balniff began as a scholar, Balnif's mental stability diminished. He would frequently be seen in bars, especially the frothing otter, drinking until he would lose consciousness. In his conscious moments Balnif would ramble about his genius and how he would exact revenge on those who humiliated his family, but few take the town drunk seriously.
Rumor spread around the Academy about a decade ago that some kind of meal was served to Primus Galen Gray that contained human flesh, and that Balnif was behind this, however the story varies from person to person, and the Primus and the Academy deny the incident.
Balnif tends to stand outside of the Frothing Otter Tavern, and will, in exchange for a few coins, tend your gear or horse. One can guarantee that the coin that Balnif collects will go toward his unhealthy drinking habit, though secretly Balnif does reserve a coin to feed Flounder every so often.
