Tips on Playing an Obelisk-Touched

  • The Obelisk-Touched have names, heritage and colouring that are reflective of the race they were born from. Please read the applicable entry on the Halmorians, Valkshir or Lakoi as appropriate. They are, however, lighter in skin, hair and eyes than their parents.
  • You must select your background race, then the background history feat of Obelisk-Touched, in order to play an Obelisk-Touched character.

Background

Special: All Obelisk Touched must be younger than 49 years of age at server start. All characters must still be the age of majority for their race however.

All children born within the city of Atalan, or to almost all of those who once lived in Atalan, grow up to become quite unusual. No matter the races of their human parents, all Obelisk-Touched are similar in some ways with light skin, light hair and light colored eyes. While their builds, facial structure and personality traits clearly come from their parents, it was shocking for many of the new parents to find their children to be so different from themselves when they first appeared, over forty years ago now. Most were raised in relatively normal lives, after the initial shock passed.

All Obelisk-Touched have the spark of magic, although not all choose to nurture this spark into spell casting ability. Many more do, however, and many become sorcerers, bards and many other magical professions of all types. These professions are extremely common among the human youth. The combination of spell casting ability and youthful rebellion once lead to more than a few horror stories of Atalan Born sorcerers,as they were earlier termed, enthralling their parents and others to their bidding, or inadvertently blowing up things which aught not to be blown up. These stories and rumours did little to aid in relations between the old races and the ex-residents of Atalan. Now however, there have been cases of this aberrancy within a few non-humans as well.

The Obelisk-Touched tend to be street-wise and in tune with the flows of the city or town they have grown up in, and many of them, especially commoners, have joined and quit gangs over their childhoods if they grew up in the less savory locations in Eramere. Obelisk-Touched know many people within their home town, and have many contacts with individuals of all types. The Obelisk-Touched have adapted well to the unique blend of frontiersmanship and life in the towns which exists only in Eramere. Many common-born local children have a stern drive to expand the influence of their home town, with a pride in their current home, often also showing intense loyalty to the place where they grew up. Obelisk Touched are not as impressed as others by all the strangeness of the land they live in, or even have a conception that it is strange at all. What others have seen as strange and otherworldly have touched the lives of the Obelisk Touched daily.
