The Norstrom-Toren College of Surgeons was founded some sixty plus years ago by Amelia Norstrom-Toren, and named for her far distant, but still quite famous ancestor, Ashley Norstrom-Toren. Amelia founded the school in an effort to advance medical science out of the dark ages, as divine healing became harder and harder to come by in larger towns that natural healers did not feel comfortable in. They have made it their mission to train men and women in the use of herbs, and surgical techniques, that could be used to save lives when a healer is not available. Their graduates go on to be local care givers, and battlefield medics, coveted and famed for their professionalism, and competence. While magical healing is always welcome, either on the front lines, or in the various hospitals the College operates, they strive to be able to do their work without it.
