Names: Jonas & Aribella Torgas

Age: Jonas 41, Aribella 39

Profession: A husband and wife team who run a well known store in the Merchant District of Atalan. They buy and sell an assortment of goods, including weapons, clothing, armour, gems, traps, and the odd healing draught.

Description: Jonas is a quiet man who prefers organising his stock and managing the books to speaking with the customers. Aribella is a shrewd, sociable woman with a keen instinct for people. Being a tough negotiator and fair in her dealings, she is well-liked and respected among both customers and local merchants. They have five children, three boys and two girls, ranging from 24 years down to 15.

Bio: Both Jonas and Aribella emigrated from Halmoria on one of the first ships with their families as teenagers. They met during the voyage, and upon arriving in Atalan, married quickly, as she was already pregnant with their first child. They worked hard to establish their store, and in the early days of marriage often slept on the floor after trading had ceased for the day. With such a large brood, it was a struggle at times to feed them all and shady deals often took place to help with cash-flow. Aribella has oft been heard to say “Principles are all very well, but they don’t put bread on the table”. In recent times, with three of their children married with their own families, and the two youngest helping out in the store, finances have improved, and they finally feel a sense of security in their business and their lives. They find nobles frivolous, though they deal with them politely, and also find many of the laws somewhat amusing, as they tend to be dictated by those with little knowledge of how street commerce actually operates. The Torgas’ give every outward appearance of a good, law abiding family, though the sounds of Aribella's screeching voice ringing out across the merchant district as she scolds Jonas or the children is legendary among the locals.
