The Wolf With no Pack is a creature of great unending appetite, and has stalked the lands of Eramere since times unknown. Said to appear as a twisted black lupine like creature, sometimes with multiple heads, and sometimes with naught but a gaping mouth with razor like fangs. Garmgir is known and feared by most of the native races, aside from the Syl'vae which have only heard whispers, and the deep howl at the edge of their forest.

It is rumored that the beasts howl alone can kill, though it reserves its use for the love of the hunt. It is said the the creature stalks for no rhyme nor reason, no true hunger controls it, though it occasionally devours its victims. Born of fear of those who find themselves alone, Garmgir is the greatest hunter in all the lands, able to track it's pray until the ends of the world and back. To be hunted by Garmgir is to know the certainty of death, like a deer behind an archer's arrow. Garmgir spreads fear in its wake and those that have caught its scent often experience nightmares and hallucinations, ranging from auditory growls to seeing allies faces twist and contort in front of them. When angered, the very land twists with it's passing, leaving behind growths that snag and strangle travelers. The Black dog also seems to be able to disappear at will, and be in more then one place at a time.

The rare traveler however tells a completely different tale, of a noble creature of the purest black coat, which leads the lost home and guards those who sleep. Some say that Garmgir is known to protect lost children and feed upon those who would cause them harm. The two stories are completely contradictory and lend some to think that there is more then one creature. Garmgir is also said the love the telling of riddles, though it's own are often bizarre and have no meaning, despite which if one answers wrongly they will find the Black Dog's maw upon them.

In any case, no one has seen or heard of the Black Wolf in over 20 years.
