Name: Matthemy Seragim
Title: Academy Magnate, Prelate of Ephaesus' Sect

Appearance:
Matthemy stubbornly descended into old age. He was tall and thin compared to Halmorians, but his build did not quite compare to the Atalan Born. Magister Seragim had a scowl perpetually plastered on his face.

Bio:
Matthemy had been a scowling bastard for as long as anyone in the Academy can remember. Though he was considered an intolerable curmudgeon there was no doubt that he was a brilliant researcher favored by Ephaesus. He had authored widely read dissertations that lay out the arcane foundations of Abjuration with considerations for the defense of Atalan, and preventing an additional Long Night. The Auxili's Inspector Imperitor considered Matthemy to be a trusted and valued advisor.

Magnate Seragim was an outspoken opponent against the Academy's secular members. In his view, they were misguided, inefficient, and prone to error. Ephaesus, he said, laid out humanity's path to discovery and any deviation from this path is hubris. Some of his fellow Prelates and Predicants had attempted interventions that would ideally end with a more polite and gracious Magnate. All such attempts failed miserably.

Magnate Seragim took a number of mages to the mainland to fight in the Halmoria-Kalimvar War in a stunning reversal of Halmorian policy.

Matthemy fell in Atalan to a swarm of manifestations as magic failed during the events of the Summer 988IY.
