The Great Loss refers to the destruction of the original home of the Dwarves, within the Silentfire Mountains. From what most humans can gather, there was a massive explosion, which in most tales is an erupting volcano. The great city was destroyed, and at the same time, the connection to their deity Hrasqueel was severed.
After the Great Loss, they began to call themselves Zvarkglar, the Shattered People, and the long march of the Arn Zvar'Clahoon began as they sought to reclaim their past and survive as a people.
