Over the centuries, human Ephaesean Adepts have often formed small groups which have worked to some specific end. These specialized task groups often become somewhat autonomous and gain slightly specialized names. The most well known of these divinely blessed task groups on Eramere has been the Ephaesean Adeptus for the past few centuries. This group tasked themselves with the discovery and application of the Arcane. They have made great strides in the study of magic, and those who take up the mantle are continuing to strive towards new understanding every day.
For an Ephaesean Adeptus, the study of magic is more than a simple quest for knowledge, or a search for a new ability or new powers. It is a form of worship to the Omniscient Eye. In more recent years, some have joined their ranks who also follow Lethe, aiding with the cataloguing and preservation of the discoveries found. While their reasons, motives and personalities differ wildly, every Adeptus shares this in common. Both the study and use of magic is an extension of each Adeptus' prayers, and every Adeptus seeks to better understand this mysterious force in their own way. As a result, the Adeptus' power of prayer advances even as their strength of magic does so as well. The Adeptus' rely on their research and that of others to gather new Arcane powers, as their researches and prayers leave them little time and often less willingness to waste their time researching magics that came before. The ultimate goal of the Ephaesean Adeptus is to uncover new knowledge and improve on the old ways.
