Over the centuries, human Ephaesean Adepts have often formed small groups which have worked to some specific end. These specialized task groups often become somewhat autonomous and gain slightly specialized names. The most recent of these task groups has been the Ephaesean Adeptus. This group tasked themselves with the discovery and application of the recently discovered knowledge of the Arcane. Although these new Adeptus have existed for only a short time, they have made great strides in the study of magic, and those who take up the mantle are continuing to strive towards new understanding every day.

For an Ephaesean Adeptus, the study of magic is more than a simple quest for knowledge, or a search for a new ability or new powers. It is a form of worship to the Omniscient Eye. While their reasons, motives and personalities differ wildly, every Adeptus shares this in common. Both the study and use of magic is an extension of each Adeptus's prayers, and every Adeptus seeks to better understand this mysterious force in their own way. As a result, the Adeptus's power of prayer advances even as their strength of magic does so as well. The Adeptus rely on their research and that of others to gather new Arcane powers, as their researches and prayers leave them little time and often less willingness to waste their time researching magics that came before. The ultimate goal of the Ephaesean Adeptus is to uncover new knowledge and improve on old the old ways.

In recent years, Ephaesean Adeptuses continue their work both from what was lost in the destruction of Atalan, amongst the humans in High Reaches, as well as within the Gnomish temple of Ephaesus on THIMBLE.
