Since [[the Halmoria-Kalimvar War]], little has been heard from the region in [[Eramere]] until the last few years. Now news suggests that the Lakoi under the Halmorian thumbs are less content with their usual passive resistance and ignoring the Halmorians as much as humanly possible. Resistance has increased, leading to a few small riots, and increased punishments from the Empire.

The western borders of the region upon the mainland are partially lined by a range of nearly impassable mountains called “Lilianthe’s Crown”, traversable only through the spring, summer, and early autumn months. The Crown serves as a natural weather break, keeping the warm winds and fronts coming off the ocean circulating through the region, resulting in no small number of fitful storms. The indigenous plant life largely favors palms, broadleaf evergreens and citrus which provide no small abundance of fruits. Though more spectacularly to a visitor’s eye there is a wide array and variety of wild flowers to be found. To the north and south, the land curves outward and in, forming a protective and enormous cove.

To the east within this huge cove, the region’s true draw can be found. Coral reefs and islands both large and small pepper the waters. They can be anywhere from a few meters to a few kilometers in length and width, many of which are large enough to house small communities. Indeed, over half the native population of Lakoi can be found amid these sporadic islands.

Aquatic life of all shapes and sizes can be found here, many of which are more fantastical than most are accustomed to. An impressive range of birds can be spotted flitting from island to island in search of the ever shifting favorable roosts. Critters deeper inland more closely resemble those most are accustomed to, though generations of isolation via the Crown have left many specifically adapted to the plentiful environs of the region. Between the splendors of the inner cove and the aquatic creatures who call it home more than one artistic visitor has left this region inspired.

Though the majority of the population is said to be lost amid the islands, the only known major settlements are on the mainland. Through contact with Halmorians, more regular trade, and necessity, the locals have begun to band together and build more permanent structures over the last generation or three. The resulting port towns are hubs of constant trade. In more recent years as the ports grew, shipyards have been developed to support the grander designs of the more frequent visitors from the west.

Since the Halmoria-Kalimvar War, little has been heard from the region in Eramere until the last few years. Now news suggests that the Lakoi under the Halmorian thumbs are less content with their usual passive resistance and ignoring the Halmorians as much as humanly possible. Resistance has increased, leading to a few small riots, and increased punishments from the Empire.
