Lord Emperor Alphaeus III

The Emperor died during the Halmoria-Kalimvar War, outside of Battle. His daughter is his successor, with a Crown Regent while she was yet unable to take the throne at that time.

Physical Description

Emperor Alphaeus III is rather tall for a Halmorian, standing over most. Despite his age he still has a full head of raven black hair, and he has kept his body in as good of shape a man of over seventy can. His eyes are dark, and some say cold, but all would agree they have a keen intelligence behind them. His cheekbones are chiseled though the skin on his face has begun to sag and wrinkle with age. His hands are still strong, with more then one scar from battle. He dresses most often in his ceremonial armor, which is said to be blessed by Memnos to be both strong and light.

Biography

Emperor Alphaeus III is a strong and domineering man, even in his advancing age the Emperor has kept the political dogs at bay. Alphaeus has kept physically fit, and trains regularly with his master-at-arms Grego Malviri. The Lord Emperor has maintained his status as Emperor for longer then any previous man, and through his reign the Empire has truly prospered in most regards. During his forty eight year reign Alphaeus has spread the borders of Halmoria further along the coast, subdued the mighty Valkshir and established the thus far very profitable colony of Atalan.

The Emperor has been described by his supporters as a strong man with vision, and as a tyrant by his opponents. Whatever your opinion of him the Emperor has proven to be an expert politician often quelling issues before most knew they had arisen. Darker rumors of outspoken opponents going missing and powerful nobles finding themselves paupers or worse simply lend to the Emperors austere. In truth many of the Emperors most troublesome subjects have recently found themselves on boats to Atalan, their lands “requisitioned” in order to ensure their future success.

As it stands now the Emperor will only be survived by his daughter Laela, and questions have arisen regarding the future of the line. Despite this perceived weakness, as it is unlikely that the Emperor will have an heir avenge any attacks on his person, Alphaeus has maintained power through his strong connections with the military. Alphaeus has earned the love of his troops and therefore ensured his place on the throne for his natural life.

The most controversial policy involves his most profitable endeavor, the Emperor has restricted all travel to and from Atalan, granting all shipping rights to the Silver Pieces Mercantile company. Even the Legion has been barred from sailing warships, and troop transports to the colony, as part of the Quarantine blocking trade to and from Atalan. It is perhaps unusual that a relatively small Mercantile group received the contracts, lending some to believe that the Silver Pieces is more then it seems.
