House van Ottrius
Lady Helena had left her position as a scion of the Ducal House von Augustus, in order to marry the common-born Osbrandt, son of Heinrich, son of Otto, having fallen passionately in love his artistic works. Despite her father's many attempts to persuade her otherwise, she announced her marriage and gave up her place in her House of Birth. Although her father disapproved of this, he realized he had little recourse, and so, in order to avoid his daughter marrying into common family, at the wedding ceremony, the Duke of Eboracum (a northern Duchy), just prior to giving away his daughter, he reluctantly ennobled the family as the minor House of Ottrius, making his daughter its Head.
When the choice came to break away from her father's Duchy and re-establish the House in Atalan, she eagerly consulted her husband, who agreed wholeheartedly. Unfortunately, she was one of the victims of the Long Night, which left the House without a clear single claimant to its Head.
All members of this house are said to be returning to the mainland after the arrival of the von Strathornes.
Members of the House
- Margravine Faustina Van Ottrius, Is the de facto ruler of the house. There is much written on her (please click her name).
- Margrave Heinrich Van Ottrius, Head of the House, de Jure; Faustina’s unmarried same-age nephew-by-marriage.
- Countess Herletta Van Ottrius, Faustina’s Oldest Daughter, and was heir presumptive but no longer. She is known to be obsessed with the latest fashions, most often preferring bright, spring colors. She chose to relinquish the van Ottrius name and remain in Eramere.
