Please read the armour proficiencies section carefully

Fighters are the most common type of adventurer. Well versed in combat, adaptable and very resilient, the warriors of the land come in many shapes and forms. But one thing remains the same; their prowess in battle.

Though simple in its core, the Fighter is versatile, capable of using a wide range of tactics and equipment to achieve victory. A fighter may even specialize with a unique type of weapon, making him extremely dangerous and precise. In every type of combat the Fighter stands above all others. Whether wielding a powerful large weapon, two weapons, a bow, a crossbow, or a simple sword and shield, the Fighter will likely succeed against enemies that face him in direct combat.

Fighters can be soldiers, scouts, bounty hunters, sentinels, or just a common adventurer. Whether they fight for law or chaos, good or evil, themselves or others, fighters can combat the deadliest foes and manage to endure through the battle. They are rugged and tough. No adventuring party should be without a fighter. They know how to take a hit and move on with the task.

In essence, almost every adventurer has a bit of Fighter inside of him, though, those who follow the this path exclusively, become almost war machines.
