Description
Kalimvarans are tall, broad shouldered people, ranging typically between Halmorians and Valkshir in height and build. They share a similar skin tone to the Halmorians, as despite the northern clime Kalimvar tends to warm and fairly sunny throughout the year. Kalimvarans are notoriously more matriarchal then Halmorians, with women holding key positions in government, if not typically the throne. Kalimvaran women are more slender then the men, and are famed throughout the continent for their beauty, and tenacity. A militaristic culture, that pride themselves on their readiness for a fight at any time Kalimvarans tend to be very fit.
The people of Kalimvar are disciplined and typically highly patriotic; the age old tradition and law demanding all able bodied citizens to serve at least two years in the military has forged Kalimvar into a nation not easily trifled with. It is the Kinjarin however that make it truly formidable, trained from nearly birth to be the main military arm of Kalimvar.
The Nobility
Each Region of Kalimvar is ruled by a Unirion that is elected by the common people from amongst the local Nobility. The Nobility of Kalimvar is split into two groups, Low Nobles and High Nobles. High Nobles can only gain such status through military achievement, and the title is not passed down to their children. Low nobles are the family and decedents of current and past high nobles. All the current Unirions of Kalimvar happen to be High Nobles.
Religion
It is believed that Kalimvarans do not believe in any Overseers. To put your faith in another is seen as weak.
Kalimvarans in Eramere
The Kalimvarans on Eramere attempted to take Torica during an invasion that pitted them against both the navy of Torica, the Halmorians, and a massive storm. They were able to make landfall on Torica, and have occupied almost half of the island since that time, with one major attempt to take more of the island that failed. For a few years, they fortified occupied Torica, increased trade with others, and settled into their main military camp on the island that they have named Meretokis. There was an uneasy truce between all three major powers in the area around Torica that remained until the Rising.
During the Great Rising of the Restless the agnostism of the Kalimvarans worked against them. Battling the rising hordes with no divine or arcane assistance proved too much. While they battled valiantly, they were slain to a man, when an envoy from Kalimvar returned to see why they had received no word from the outpost in weeks, they discovered their people dead and wild tales of the walking dead slaughtering them. The Empire itself decided that Eramere was not worth the expense and abandoned their endeavors on the continent.
