Mysterious, abundant and unimaginable are the creatures and secrets that stalk, walk, and inhabit the lands of Eramere. Creatures never before seen, imagined, or even dreamed, exist in places and ways that defy the minds of those new to these lands. Likewise, these creatures wield powers and abilities that are beyond the ability of the mind to conceive of, never before seen. Yet with such powerful beings, come opportunities.

Among these creatures, are terrible, awe-inspiring, fearsome beasts of scales and muscle, towering creatures of great and evident power, looking down upon all that they see. Terrible, is the wrath of such a creature approached unduly, and yet great is the rewards for one who might possess just the right combination of factors, just then, to gain the interest and favor of such a legendary and frightening creature. Those so fortunate to not only keep their lives, but to gain further favor, are taken into service by these creatures, and granted power to take on aspects of their merciful patron, slowly gaining the traits of their benevolent or fearsome rulers, until they become an embodiment of the form and power of these ancient and mysterious creatures.

It does appear, however, that only a very small percentage of these great creatures may even consider sharing such power with a mortal, for reasons that might differ as much as the sun from the moon.
