Gillian was raised by her father who had been left lame after the first [[the Blackspear War|Blackspear War]]. Unwilling to live with the tribe in shame but determined to raise his daughter, the two eventually found themselves on the island of [[Torica]]. Something of an outcast and oddity, Gillian grew to tower over her neighbors and generally out perform any would be friends when it came to physical activities. Growing up in such trying circumstances imparted a tempering to the typical [[Valkshir]] hotheadedness. The anger and rage still boiled deep within Gillian, but the lessons of clamping down on such feelings caused the would-be [[berserker]] to gain a better understanding of what it meant to fight, and instead of entering reckless frenzies, she was able to use the rage in a controled and precise manner.

Gillian was naturally drawn to [[Aidan Arna]] and her Order of the Golden Rose. She joined the Order shortly before it dissolved and naturally followed Aidan into [[the Knights of the Shield]]. Gillian rose through the ranks becoming a sergeant and being known for putting anyone that deserves it on the ground regardless of rank or station.
